The Kivik’s Museum & Archives Foundation and The Parish of Kivik have together with different book initiatives in the local surroundings of Kivik-Brösarp decided to develop their mutual interest in literature and books by starting a new Book Town organisation, The Albo Book Town. The name is inspired from the very old hundred’s name, that welds Kivik and Brösarp together even further.
Both Kivik’s Museum and the Parish have during several years had a great interest in supporting books, reading and literature, arranging book circles, book workshops, author meetings and interviews, reading aloud from books, having book cafés and book shops, etc. The Museum has even published local anthologies and other books, written by local authors. Now, the Museum and the Parish have decided to start a book town together to allocate resources and develop a new focus on books and reading. A book town organisation is being organised with other local initiatives from Vitemölle, Bästekille and Brösarp and together they hereby apply for membership in the International Organisation of Book Towns.
